I have a passion for telling stories through design. I thrive on taking a mess of information and distilling it down to a clear and digestible message. I am highly organized, love to take on big projects and want the work I do to improve peoples lives, no matter how small of a difference.
There are plenty of talented designers out there who do beautiful work. What sets me apart is that I'm a very analytical thinker and I work fast. I want things to make sense, have clear hierarchy and purpose. I love UX, user testing, analytics, I can even handle an excel doc. I like to know why people make the decisions they do and then tailor my designs for maximum impact. Creating beautiful ads that win awards is nice, but I'd rather spend my time improving on someones experience. Whether that be making an online purchase path smoother, the way they read and understand a promotion or how they perceive the brand they are considering.
I live in Calgary, Alberta. I graduated with a degree in Visual Communications from the Alberta College of Art and Design. I've been working full time ever since, and I'm currently employed at the stock photography company, iStockphoto. I work on a few freelance projects each year.
I'm an art director, not a website developer, so I partner with other talented folks who specialize in their respective fields. This allows each of us to focus on our specialties, resulting in the best solution possible. I have also had experience with UX, IA and interface design which is an ongoing interest of mine.
Like a lot of people, I want to travel the world. I'm making progress slowly but surely. My latest adventure was volunteering in India. I lawn bowl in the summer and cross country ski in the winter. I watch a ton of TV, read a lot of tweets and love to instragram. I'm constantly reorganizing my home, trying to make the best use of the space. I tend inflict my organizational obsession on my friends' and family's homes, usually to minimal objection.
